IHMs: For getting into National
Institute of Hotel Management there is a Joint entrance Examination ‘JEE’
conducted by national council every year in the month of April or May, the
students have to clear this exam and they can get admission in IHM according to
their rankings and seats availability of particular college.
Private Institutes: They conduct their own exam for admission; some of the colleges also
include personal interviews as a part of their selection procedure.
The degree course in IHM is about
three year with six month of internship in all major departments.
Private college duration is of four years which has one year of internship.

students have an advantage of getting placed in their own group of hotel for e.g. student

As the private institute offers four year program so it includes one year for specialization in one of the
major department but IHM does not have any such provision.
